How we review

Sleep Anchors is written by an independent editorial team. Here is who we are, what we do, and where our limits are.

Who we are

We are an editorial team that reads published research and product labels and explains them in plain language. We are not doctors, pharmacists or dietitians, and we do not hold medical credentials. Nothing on this site is medical advice, and no guide is a substitute for talking to a healthcare provider.

How we read a product

  • We list what is in the product and what the maker says each ingredient does.
  • We look for the published research on each ingredient, prefer systematic reviews and meta-analyses of randomized trials, and link every study we cite.
  • We check the label for doses. When doses are hidden inside a blend, we say so and explain what that limits.
  • When a claim comes from the maker and we cannot find an independent study, we label it that way.
  • We state the price and the refund terms as of a date, because they change.

The full method, heading by heading, is on the research methodology page.

How we write about sleep itself

Guides that are not about a product, such as how sleep works or why people wake at night, follow a simpler method. We start from health agencies and clinical guidelines, and from systematic reviews and meta-analyses. We report what they say and attribute it. We do not tell you what to do about your own sleep. Each of these guides has a section on what is uncertain. The research methodology page has the details.

The words we use for evidence

In our product reviews we use four labels so you can tell how much weight a claim can carry.

What we mean by evidence
  1. Strong Pooled results from many randomized trials, such as a systematic review or meta-analysis.
  2. Moderate Some human trials, but small, short or mixed in design.
  3. Limited Few human trials, or trials that found little effect.
  4. Not verified We could not find an independent study. The claim comes from the maker.

Our own shorthand, not a clinical grading system. It tells you how much weight a claim can carry, not whether a product works for you.

What we do not do

  • We do not say a product treats, cures or prevents a condition.
  • We do not use countdown timers, fake scarcity or invented testimonials.
  • We do not present ourselves as clinicians.

The full set of rules is in the editorial policy.

How we earn money

Some guides link to products through affiliate programs. That gives us a financial interest in your purchase. The affiliate disclosure explains how it works and how we handle it.

Corrections

If we got something wrong, tell us and we will fix it. Write to editors@sleepanchors.com. That includes a misread study, a price that has changed, or a label that does not match what we describe. Every guide carries the date we last reviewed it.
